Menu item for updated is showing empty result

Hi,

I have the notifications working and the emails is sent via cron job and is recieved, so I am sure that I am following the correct categories.

The problem is I have created menu items linking to MyUpdates, and Updates and both pages are showing no result and the buttons for Clear and search tools are not working aswell.

The empty pages should show the items that I have recieved the emails for, right?

What is wrong?

Any ideas?

Hi there,

Actually the updates are not the same as emails. The updates are similar to emails in content, but they are generated via a separate cron job. Emails are outbound notifications while the updates are internal notifications that are kept as an archive in the website.

You can find the cron job instructions for updates at this page.

Look for the Create updates section at the bottom of the page.

As for the toolbar issue, I don't see any toolbar in the above link.

Thank you for the reply, ok i set that up and it is showing now under updates link, but what is the difference between updates and MyUpdates?!!

It is not a tool bar, as it is written in arabic you may miss it, there is two blue buttons on the right of the dropdown Date created DESC both not doing thing.

Hi,

You dont see the buttons as you are not logged in, also I see the notification under UPDATES where they also should show under MYUPDATES as i am following the K2 category that has its item updated, so UPDATES show all updates whether i am following or not, but MYUPDATES should show the updates for the categories I am following which is not working.

Hi,

So, when a new notification event is being processed, 2 things happen:

1. Users that have subscribed to emails will receive an email notification.

2. The system will create records that are kept as archive in the website. Like a history of what has happened; these are the updates.

Now, there are 2 kinds of updates:

  1. Global updates: a record of all notification events. These will be created no matter what, even if there are no subscribers in the wesbite. You can see these if you go to the back-end Dashboard > Updates and filter the list by 'System updates'. These are the Updates.
  2. User updates: updates that are created for users. So, if you have subscribed to an object, you will receive an email notification and also there will be a record for this event in the MyUpdates page, specifically for you. It's the history of notifications for a specific user.
    1. About the toolbar, I still can't find it. Can you please send me a screenshot, showing the location?

The tool bar is circled in red in the attached image.

About the Global updates and the User updates, in the front end, MyUpdates are empty although I am subscribed in some categories which has notifications and should show, and the Global updates are showing the notifications of all events if the user is following or not.

So Updates are working as expected, but the MyUpdates menu items is returning empty page.

Please advice.

The page that I see when I log in is completely different from the screenshot. There are no buttons anywhere and no updates list.

I'm sorry but I can't help you with this is if you don't provide a working link of the Updates page.
