I have a menu item for a category blog, and added this shortcode to the category {mcnotifications title="Covid-19" layout="default" option="com_content" category="auto" category_params="f,c,e,t" }. Then I published an article to the category. It shows up correctly on the site, but there is no Follow option displayed.

Then I tried this shortcode in the article {mcnotifications layout="default" option="com_content" item="auto" item_params="f,e,t"}. Now the article shows the Follow header, but no more of the dialog box than that.

This is a password-protected private site and permissions have been set for the buttons. On the backend I can see that notifications transition through pending, though of course there are no Follows to send to.

What is the problem?

Hi there,

You can't use auto for a category inside an article page. Try using the category id instead.

Hi Yannis

I only tried auto when the category id didn't work. Here it is:{mcnotifications title="Covid-19" layout="default" option="com_content" category="74" category_params="f,c,e,t"}

Am I right in thinking that when category notifications are working properly the articles within the category do not need their own additional shortcode? But if an article shortcode is created it won't interfere with the category?

Yes, articles don't need their own shortcode if you are using a category shortcode.

Have you also configured the component permissions?

Yes, Yannis, they are both enabled (refer initial post)
I notice that the category shortcode displays as text and is not being processed. I tried a change of editor from JCE to CodeMirror, cleaning out HTML tags <p> </p> but it made no difference.

Hi David,

I can't figure out what's wrong. I can't replicate this problem on my end so far.

Hi Yannis
I'm glad you have logged in to our site and tried to find the error there. Does that mean you have seen for yourself it is not working correctly? When you say you can't replicate the problem, do you mean you can't replicate it on our site, or can't replicate it on yours?
What's the next step?
