Minitek Wall Pro - Professional Subscription

Hi,

I am still in Joomla 3. I am waiting the update of K2 to move on Joomla 4.

I am using a Minitel Wall widget to display 4 articles. Not more.

I wanted to know if there a possibility to organize them by K2 id. I would like a specific order that is not offer in the widget.

Do you advice to do it?

Sincerely,

A. Guillen

Hi there,

Unfortunately ordering by ID is not available in the old version. Usually the ID ordering is the same as the 'Date created' ordering.

Hi,

do you mean that in the version for Joomla 4, that feature has been implemented?

Sincerely

Yes, ordering by ID is supported in Joomla 4. But there is no K2 support for Joomla 4.

Just a suggestion, you don't really need K2 in Joomla 4. Joomla articles now support all kinds of custom fields.

I don't really recommend K2 as they never issue any updates and are always very very late to release their new version.

Also, K2 does not really offer anything new that is not already included in Joomla articles.

At this point I highly doubt that they will ever release a new version for Joomla 4.

Hi,

thank you for your email.

Moving from K2 to Joomla Articles will be very complicated for me.

Here are some reasons :

- I have to move a lot of extensions : Minitek Wall, Raxo Related, Raxo Prime, JsiteMap Pro, Route 66, Jcomments. Everything should be done manually.

- I found an extension that is able to move K2 articles to Joomla Articles with the tags. The problem is they do not migrate comments. I have thousand of comments. I did not find any solution to migrate them. I want to keep them. That is the purpose of Web 2.0.

So moving will need a lot of time.

I hope that the K2 developer will provide an update.

I have a question for you. In the case of an update is provided, is Minitek Wall will support or not?

Looking forward for reading your answer.

Sincerely.

I understand. I also moved from K2 to Joomla Articles a few years back and it was a long process. But I think that it's worth it as you will never have to deal with such delays anymore or with compatibility problems.

Yes, I will support K2 for Minitek Wall when K2 is finally released.

Thank you very much for your answer. I appreciate what you share. You are right.

Now, my website is very stable. I have no technical issue.

Maybe I am going to schedule the migration for beginning of 2023. I will have 6 months to make it. I guess if I take one half-day per week to make the migration, it will be enough.

The only problem will be the lost of the comments. They are very important. I do not find any solution for that point.

I add 2 or 3 articles per week. During that time of transition, it will be easier to maintain the production website running with Joomla 3 and the migration website running with Joomla 4.

Sincerely,

A. Guillen
