 Just curious,

Is it possible to have ONLY the search results display on the page after the user clicks return or submit? See attached image. On the regular smart search (built in to joomla) you are permitted to add a hidden menu ItemID. But you can't seem to do that with Smart Search.

So when I see the search results on my website, I also see all of the other page content. This is not preferred. I would like to be able to enter keywords, press enter key, and get results on second new page, and only the search results. Is this possible.

Also, thank you very much for fixing bug in "X" to remove words. That was driving me crazy!!

Hi Chris,

No, this is not possible. The component was designed to retrieve results dynamically without reloading the page.

I will take not of that for a future version.

One alternative is to do what we are doing in minitek.gr. When you click on the search icon at the top right, the smart search module is loaded in a modal window.

Yes, I understand. I think I might explore the pop-up modal solution.

Oh, another question for you.

I've noticed that when I use the standard Joomla search module (not the smart search, just the regular one), it captures a log of all of the keywords used by site visitors.

But the Joomla smart search does not do this.

Because It is very important to know the keywords that users are using to find stuff, I would very much like to capture this somehow.

Even if there was a way that everytime someone was searching for something I could get an email from Joomla saying those keywords, that would be really useful.

Do you know whether or not the search keywords are stored in Joomla? Could they be stored using your smart search? I would be willing to pay additional $$$ to have that as a plug in or additional feature to this great search feature that you have made.

Sincerely,

-Chris

Hi Chris,

If you enable the parameter
Configuration > Smart Search (Joomla not Minitek), does it record your search phrases?

Yannis,

Only the search phrases entered using the standard, "non-smart" search are saved.

I have never been able to store search phrases using the smart search module.

Can you try it on your end? Enter a search word like "wxy123" in the Minitek SMART search and see if it is recorded. It does not work for me. Which is why I am asking about it.

I seriously would like to know in real time what my users are searching for, as it would provide a "heads up" about stuff that is going on.

Just a thought.

No, it's not stored for me either.

I have added this in the to-do list for version 1.0.8.

Hello Yanis. I see great progress in version 1.0.9 for the inclusion of a results only page! Great work. Is there documentation yet on how to do this?

Also, any further consideration on this item for storing smart search phrases like the normal search stores them?

Hi Chris,

The new feature added in v.1.0.9 is for opening a result in a new browser tab (when clicking on a result link). Maybe it is not clear enough in the changelog.

As for the search terms log, I have not forgotten about this, I just moved it to next version 1.1.0 together with some other similar improvements.
