Could you tell me how did you go about making the modal full screen when you click the icon in your main navigation? Thanks

In our website, we are using a custom implementation with an iFrame.

Specifically, the iFrame loads this page
https://www.minitek.gr/modal-search?tmpl=component
(it's Minitek Smart Search menu item with the tmpl=component parameter that loads only the component section of the page).

But you can achieve a similar result by just using the Minitek Smart Search module. You just need to enter the module inside a modal window that is triggered with a button.
In order to do this, your template must support modal windows. Or you can use a 3rd party extension for modal windows.

How do I customize the style of module so that if there are component updates, my customizations will not be overridden.

I am using RegularLabs Modals plugin to render the smart search module but I want to change a class. Please see screencast: https://cl.ly/b343aa9a6652.

Hi there,

You can create a template override:

1. Copy all the files from
components/com_miniteksmartsearch/views/search/

to

templates/your_template/html/com_miniteksmartsearch/search/

2. Open the copied files and customize the html.

Thanks for some odd reason when I edit the default_form.php file located in templates/your_template/html/com_miniteksmartsearch/search/tmpl/default_form.php

It doesn't work. I also tried moving that file up one parent folder to templates/your_template/html/com_miniteksmartsearch/search/default_form.php and it doesn't seem to work either. Not sure what am I doing wrong

The correct path for the files is:

templates/your_template/html/com_miniteksmartsearch/search/

not

templates/your_template/html/com_miniteksmartsearch/search/tmpl

If it does not work, try to rename the files, for example:

default2.php
default2_form.php
default2_result.php
default2_results.php

and then in the menu item (or module) select the new template in the field Alternative layout/Template override.
