Hello! I use "Masonry columns" layout for displaying Joomla content (intro images only, 10 image/row). I would like to have the following effect on thumbnail image hover: thumbnail images are resized (about 200% of the thumbnail size) and a tooltip with the iarticle title appears along the cursor. Is it possible?

Hi Ildiko,

What exactly do you mean by
thumbnail images are resized
?

Images can not be larger than the column width.

Hello. My customer wants this. His idea is that the images are enlarged on hover, covering the other images. So the max thumbnail width is the column width?
And what about the tooltips?

I am afraid this is not possible, the image can not be larger than then column width.

About the tooltips:

Open the file
components/com_minitekwall/views/masonry/default_columns.php

Search for
<a href="<?php echo $item->itemImage; ?>" class="fancybox mnwall-item-fancy-icon" rel="group">
  <i class="fa fa-search"></i>
</a>

and replace it with
<a href="<?php echo $item->itemImage; ?>" class="fancybox mnwall-item-fancy-icon" rel="group" title="<?php echo $item->itemTitleRaw; ?>">
  <i class="fa fa-search"></i>
</a>

However, this customization will be removed if you update the component. If you want it to be permanently added as a feature, please add your request here:

Hello. Thank you for the hint. I found the right place for the image title (not what you mentioned):

<a
href="/<?php echo $item->itemLink; ?>"
class="mnwall-photo-link">
<img src="/<?php echo $item->itemImage; ?>" title="<?php echo $item->itemTitleRaw; ?>" alt="" />
</a>

and now it works!
(However it was not working as an override, I had to change the original file)

And I have just one more question: can I change the max. number of columns in Masonry colums layout to a higher value than 10? Where can I do this?

Thank you and best regards.

That's strange. I tested the code on my end and it seems to work fine.

Anyway, it's good that you figured it out and it works for you!

It's difficult to change the number of columns. It would require many customizations in the backend and frontend files of the component.
But you can submit a request at
https://www.minitek.gr/support/feature-requests
and we will try to add it in one of the next versions.

Hello, thank you for the answer.
Now I have another issue: I have set the image quality to 100% in code. I have fixed with columns with 100px x 100px images. The image quality is poor on retina devices. Is it possible to improve it (e.g. store the images in 200 x 200 px size and let the browser downsampling them)?
Thank you and best regards:

Hi Ildiko,

Yes, you can crop the images to 200px x 200px and the browser will automatically resize them to fit the columns.

Thank you for the information.
Now it seems to be OK, you can check the final state here: http://csanadystudio.hu/en/homepage/projects/chronological.
(The only problem is that the whole page reloads on each menu click - currently it is not possible to display the result of more than one filter at once, I could manage this using modules.)
Thank you again and wishing you all the best!:
