 Hi again, there must be simple solution to this but I cannot find it!

If I add the module to an Article Page, everything works fine as at http://www.steeple-ashton.co.uk/history, i.e. the Name, Email and Subscribe button all appear and the function works as described.

But if I add the module to a Category page, as at http://www.steeple-ashton.co.uk/parish-council/parish-council-agendas, only the Name and Email items show and the Subscribe button is missing.

Would appreciate your help on this. Many thanks.

Hi, would be helpful if you could take a quick look for me at this problem. I suspect it has a simple solution.

Thanks.

Hi there,

What is the shortcode you are using for the category pages?

Hi again Yannis, Happy New year to you.

We use the one which is quoted in the documentation, which says.
=====
Subscribe to an article and/or a category

Shortcode used:
Follow
Subscribe to this content and receive updates directly in your inbox.
Name
Email

======
but using "auto" instaead of specific numbers.

So I have set up two modules. The first I thought we could use for either Article or Category, viz.
=====
Subscribe to Article or Category:

===

As this did not work for Category, I set up another as below, but that did not work either.
====
Subscribe to Category:

=====

I bet you tell me I have got this wrong??!! I hope so.

Many thanks.

Oh, that's strange. It has converted the text I put in as a picture!

They should read (removing the squiggles):
mcnotifications title="CUSTOM_TEXT" layout="dropdown" option="com_content" item="auto" item_params="f,b,e,t" category="auto" category_params="f,b,t"
and
mcnotifications title="CUSTOM_TEXT" layout="dropdown" option="com_content" category="auto" category_params=""f,b,c,e,t"

However, I do note a double "" in the second one and I guess that's wrong. It should be:
mcnotifications title="CUSTOM_TEXT" layout="dropdown" option="com_content" category="auto" category_params="f,b,c,e,t"

Many thanks.

But I thought I had done. It's on the check list I had to fill in under;
Super admin username
LeonKaras
Super admin password
**** see above

As you know this is a Public post so I'm not supposed to include passwords?

Hi Yannis, not sure what has happened, but the short code (showing the Subscribe button) now seems to be working in most cases (like for example, it does not work on the Home pagge). I just have to make sure that it works on every page and category.

Very strange.

Hi, I've further investigated. The Who's Who item under Parish Council will not show the subscription becasue it is a component called WorkForce, not a category or Article.

So how would I go about adding the Scbscription to that, please?

I attach a screen shot of the page.

You can not use the "auto" value if the component is not for Joomla content.

In this case, you must enter the id of a Joomla category.

Hi Yannis. You are a star again. It's all now working. I have just set up specific modules for each item which is not a standard Joomla article or component using the id number and it's all fine.

I thought it would be a simple solution.

My only suggestion is that you update the documentation to make it clear that if you are not using a normal Joomla article or component but a special one, like Mosets Tree or Workforce or JEvents, etc., you must use its unique id, not "auto".

Many thanks for your time and effort.

Best Wishes.

Well, Yannis, I thought it was all ok. It nearly is, but there are a few oddities.
For example, I can get all the subscriptions items to appear but some of them show the wrong Category Name, or no Category Name withing the subscription box, even though I think I have entered the correct category ID.

I have attached some pictures.

If I click on Local Directory/ Clubs and Groups, it shows the right invitation but you will notice that the Category is given as BUS TIMETABLES and not Clubs and Groups.

I attach a shot of what Joomla thinks is the Category ID, namely 78, (part of Mosets Tree) and that's what I have used, and there is no BUS TIMETABLES with a category of 78!

Again, I bet you have a simple explanation??

You can't use this extension for Mosets tree.

It will only work for Joomla articles and categories.

If you enter the ID 78, the extension will automatically search for the Joomla category with the ID 78:
Bus Timetables (it's a trashed category).

Understood. many thanks.

If I change 78 to read "Clubs and Groups" that might fool it!!!
