Component for Virtuemart always shows "NO RESULTS FOUND"

Hi, I installed the Livesearch extension into the Virtuemart website I am building (the version of VM is 3.0.18).
The component version, simply does not work and always returns no results. I cannot even see the text box to enter the search string.
I also installed the module version and this does work, at least for the live search, since if I push the Search button, nothin happens.
You can try the module version going here http://www.luver.it/index.php/novita and entering a string like "med" (without quotes...).
Can you help me ?
Thanks
Luciano

Hi Luciano,
1. The component does not work by it self. It needs the module to operate.
The module provides the search input and the live results.
The component provides the search results page.
2. The search form did not work because you had not configured the module as described in the documentation. I have fixed that for you.

Oh, good, I didn't understand that the component depended on the module.
So, this means that I could also not deploy the component if I am ok with the "Ajax view" of the module, but if I want the search output be published into the component view, then I need the component to be deployed somewhere, is it correct?
Actually when I looked here http://demo.minitek.gr/#minitek_live_search it looked like a component view!
Or... is that always the module shown in the central part of the screen?
And the last one: if I create a component I need to link this component to a menu item as I did, correct? If yes, accessing the menu item is useless since I always have the "no result" message....
Thanks
Luciano

Yes, this is correct. You don't have to publish the component if you don't want to.
You can only use the Live results in the module.
Yes, in the demo we have placed the module in the component results page (in a module position). This way, you can have the search input above the search results.
You can also place the menu item for the component inside a hidden menu (a menu that is not visible in the frontend) so that the users can't go there without using the search module.

In the module configuration page you will see a parameter 'Component results'.
This parameter is important if you want to use the component page to show the results. The menu item selected in the Component results field is the menu item that the user is redirected to when the search button in the module is clicked. Make sure that this menu item is of type Minitek Live Search - Search results and that it has active component instances attached to it.

Hi, I create and additional search module in the main component area, similarly to what you did in your demo site.
The search textbox is s little narrow and does not use the available horizontal space.
May I ask you how can I enlarge horizontally the search textbox ?
Thanks

You can use the larger layout by using the suffix
faqbookpro_mls
as explained in the documentation.
