Best approach question - 500+ articles, different images for each article
I think the slider (Images) would look nice at the top of my articles as they are about PC games stuff so there are anywhere from 1-10+ images (screenshots) to display.
My question is about what you think would be best approach. I currently have 150 articles and as time goes on could have 500+ and each article will have its own set of images. I suppose set up image folders for each article but I'm just wondering if there might be a better strategy, like Custom Items and groups or something else?

Hi Steve,
No, unfortunately I have not done anything yet.
I promise that I will look into it in July and I'll have something by then.
Hi,
I have been offline for a while and just thought I would follow-up on this to see if you had found the time to look into the above as for sure this would benefit me a great deal ;-)
If not, no worries

Hello,
No, this is not possible unfortunately with any type of data source.
But I do like the idea, it would certainly be very useful to be able to use a single dynamic module for many widgets.
I will look into it next week and I'll figure something out.
Hi,
I have a follow-up on this, to review, I would like a slider with different images on 100s of article. If I create a widget for each article, pointing to the appropriate data source, would it be possible change the widget name or better yet, the datasource folder, dynamically via CSS. My reasoning for asking is having 500 widgets isn't too bad but adding 500 modules would be a bit unwieldy. Will do if needed of course, just thought I would ask :-)
Pardon my ignorance if idea is ridiculous, I am just a new hobbyist at this stuff. fwiw, the module would be wrapped in a unique container (using SP Page Builder) so was thinking something like...
.sppb-slider-wrapper-article1 .minitek-slider-article-default {
datasource folder
}
.sppb-slider-wrapper-articl21 .minitek-slider-article-default {
datasource folder
}
Or again, something I haven't explored would Custom Item Groups possible be a better approach if that could be more dynamic.

Cheers for response. Well actually I still will have to create folders and get more content from authors as previous article 'layout' only allowed for a single image. So a majority of author only provided one those who provided multiple and asked me to just pick one. So new layout with slider is meant to be a 'new feature'. I think its just the idea of so many sub-folders that had me hesitant and why I was searching for alternatives. Will follow that approach though.
Thank again for your input

Hi there,
Since you are using Joomla articles for your content and each article has its own Slider with images, then I think the best way to do this is with image folders as you mention.
This way you don't have to create any content for the Slider. You just connect your image folder to the Slider.
